November 27, 2012 – Servoflo today announced that EDN has named the mp6 micropump for air, gas & fluid delivery as one of the “100 Hot Products of 2012.” The 2012 EDN Hot 100 highlights the electronics industry’s most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness, and popularity.
Based on piezoelectric diaphragm pump technology, the mp6 micropump delivers air, gas or liquid for low flow applications in a wide variety of industries.
The mp6 micropump is extremely small in size, measuring 30 mm X 15 mm X 3.8 mm. With a low power consumption of less than 200 mW, the mp6 is ideal for portable applications. Typical flow values are 18 ml/min maximum flow with 100 mbar backpressure for gas and 7 ml/min flow and 600 mbar backpressure for water. Various flow rates for other liquids are easily determined by readily available viscosity values. The mp6 is self-priming. Read more...
Unlike other solutions, the mp6 is an off-the-shelf micropump allowing users to quickly evaluate and integrate into their design. Custom modifications can be made based on customer requirements. A polypropylene version (mp6-pp) is available for corrosive media. Sterilization is generally acceptable.
Various evaluation kits are available for purchase, which include sample pumps, controller boards, tubing and check valves depending on the users’ requirements.
Applications reach across many industries for the mp6 micropump. In medical applications, drug delivery, infusion pumps, nebulizers, point-of-care platforms, cell culturing, and breath applications have needs to deliver small amounts of gas or liquids. Additional industries include consumer products and appliances, automotive and fuel cell, instrumentation products, sensor feeding and electronics.
David Ezekiel, Vice President of Servoflo, says, “We are very excited to offer this unique micropump. The strong, positive response to the mp6 introduction demonstrates the need for this product in many applications. We are pleased to broaden our range of solutions to our sensor customers.”
“It's always a fun and enlightening challenge for the EDN editors to select the year's Hot 100 products, which has been an annual tradition at EDN since 1993. This year's selection not only reflects some technology trends that have been in place for a while, but also highlights some new trends that are just emerging, as well as a unique product or two that is in a class of its own,” said Rich Pell, Executive and Chief Technical Editor, EDN.
The complete list of EDN’s Hot 100 products can be found online at http://www.edn.com/electronics-products/other/4401457/EDN-Hot-100-products-of-2012 or within the December14, 2012 issue of EDN Magazine.
